The Sexual Risk Avoidance Abstinence Education and Youth Development Initiative is a grant awarded to our local collaborative through the Department of Family and Children Services office of Prevention Family Support through DHS. The purpose of this program is to provide abstinence education and youth development activities to middle and high school students in Bleckley County. This is an optional enrichment program and requires parental permission to participate. We have received this grant in 2011 and have been implementing this program since that time.

- Choosing the Best Abstinence Education Curriculum (Path, Life & Journey)
- Financial Literacy
- Life Skills
- Career Awareness
Goals:
- Reduce adolescent sexual activity, pregnancies, births and repeat births and STDs/STIs
- Increase the use of abstinence education as the best health message for adolescents by initiating after school, school based, and/or community based positive youth development programs/activities
